Power Kaminski continued their tour of Ohio moving onto Columbus for the NSA World Series.

Monday Pool Game 1 vs. the Wheaton (IL) Wildcats:  Power Kaminski's bats were as cold as could be and the Wildcats scored in the 4th and took a 1-0 lead.  Geena Badolato and a strong defense kept Power close going into the 6th inning.  Back-to-back doubles by Cayla Kubiak and Becky Deane, and singles by Lea Kronz, Emily Freisleben and Sarah Angeletti made the score 3-1 Power.  Geena and the defense shut the door the rest of the way.  Geena had 7 strikeouts and scattered 3 hits.

Monday Pool Game 2 vs. the  OFC Heat from Ohio:   The Heat scored 2 in the 1st to take a 2-0 lead and Power's bats started cold again.  In the 3rd, a lead off single and stolen base by Leah Kronz, and a single by Emily Freisleben make the game 2-1 after 3 innings.  Abby Nichter pitched 5 superb innings, while Sarah Angeletti and the defense would smother the Heat the rest of the way. In  the 6th inning the offense came to life.  Singles by Julz Tindall, Geena Badolato, Lea Kronz, Emily Freisleben, Chelsea Siar and Becky Deane pushed 4 runs across for a 5-2 Power win.  Emily Freisleben and Chelsea Siar had three hits each while Abby and Sarah combined for 7 K's.

Winning our Pool gave us Tuesday off and the girls and some parents went to the Columbus Zoo and Waterpark.

Wednesday Bracket Game 1 vs. the Schaumberg (IL) Sluggers.  This game belonged to Abby Nichter who provided all of the offense with two LONG homeruns in a 3-1 Power win.  Sarah Angeletti had 10 K's and scattered 7 hits.  The defense was again superb and Emily Freisleben  had three hits for the offense.

Wednesday Bracket Game 2 vs. the Ohio Lightning:  Power pushed a run across in the 3rd on a walk to Becky Deane, a double by Geena Badolato and a single by Emily Freisleben for 1-0 lead.  Geena struck out 7 and gave up only three singles, and a stifiling defense shut the Lightning out and in the 6th the offense showed up.  Consecutive hits by Lea Kronz, Emily Freisleben, Chelsea Siar, Sarah Angeletti, Abby Nichter and Julz Tindall, scored 5 runs to put the game away.

Thursday Bracket Game 3 vs. the Ohio Stingrays:  An excellent pitching and defensive match up ended 7innings at 0-0.  On to the ITB.  With Kristin Kaminski on second, singles by Megan Killgallon, Geena Badolato and Lea Kronz, scored two runs to put Power up 2-0.   The Stingrays put two runners on, but Sarah Angeletti who had 5 K's while only allowing 5 hits, slammed the door shut.  The defense played a magnificent game again.

Does the coin toss really mean anything??  I was 0-5 at the coin toss, yet we were 5-0.  Go figure!!

Thursday Bracket Game 2 vs. the Munster(IN) Magic:  The Magic scored three times in the 3rd to take a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the 7th.  Had Power K's magic run out?  I don't think so!!  With one out, singles by Becky Deane, Geena Badolato, a groundout by Lea Kronz, and a single by Emily Freisleben, loaded the bases with two out.  Chelsea just missed a walk-off Grand Slam, but her double cleared the bases and tied the score at 3-3.  Onto th ITB, again.  With their runner at third with one out the Magic tried a squeeze play, but a Geena Badolato to Julz Tindall to Chelsea Siar, completed a pitcher to home to 2nd double play!!!  With Sarah Angeletti on second a fielders choice by Abby Nichter left us with one out and a runner on 1st.  A double by Julz Tindall made it 2nd and 3rd with one out.  A sacrifice fly to right by Kristin Kaminski scored Abby in one of the most exciting comebacks I have ever seen for a 4-3 Power win.

Friday Bracket Game 3 vs. the Mattoon (IL) Pride:   The Power took a 2-0 lead to the bottom of the 3rd, but the Pride scored 4 in the bottom to take a 4-2 lead.  Power added one in the 5th to make it 4-3, but the Pride added 2 more in the 5th to take a 6-3 lead.  A two run homerun by Kristin Kaminski in the 6th made it 6-5, but Power could get no closer.

Friday Bracket Game 4 vs. the Midwest Lakers (MI):  In the second, Power scored first on a double by Abby Nichter and a single by Kristin Kaminski.  However, the eventual champion Lakers, scored 3 in the 3rd and 2 in the 6th to take the game 5-1 ending Power K's magnificent run.

A 6-2 record, with the only loses to the #1 and #3 teams.  Pretty impressive girls!!!!  All week you refused to give up or give in and I am very proud of all of you!!!

After all this, I think we set a new record for people getting thrown in the pool fully clothed.  I wish to thanks all the girls for their hard-nosed play all week and the parents who spent their $$$$ for one of the funnest weeks we have ever had.
