Power Kaminski 16U Takes Huron Blitz


Power Kaminski traveled to Huron, OH on July 19th for the "One Day Blitz Tournament" and came away champions.


Pool Game 1 vs. Richmond Blues from Michigan:   Power Kaminski scored 4 runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings, with Leah Kronz, Emily Freisleben, Sarah Angeletti and Kristin Kaminski each scoring twice to open an 8-0 lead. Leah Kronz and Chelsea Siar led the offense with two hits apiece.  Sarah Angeletti pitched 3 2/3 innings and Geena Badolato finished the rest in a 10-4 win.
Pool Game 2 vs. Team Hangtuf also from Michigan:  After 3 scoreless innings, Chelsea Siar led off the 4th with a solo Home Run.  Abby Nichter was hit with a pitch and then singles by Becky Deane and Julz Tindall scored Abby to make it 2-0 which was the final score. Lea Kronz also has two hits.  Geena Badolato had 9 stikeouts and a superb defense shut the door on Hangtuf.
Break time and a short trip over to Lake Erie for a quick dip and a stroll on the beach.  Now, back to softball.
Pool Game 3 vs. the Buckeye Blasters from Cincinnati was meaningless as both teams had already advanced to the championship game.  Blasters win 6-4.
Championship game vs Blasters:  The score was 0-0 after 6 innings, with great defense and pitching by both teams.  Abby Nichter lead off the top off the 7th with a single. A sacrifice by Becky Deane and singles by Cayla Kubiak and Julz Tindall scored Abby to give Power a 1-0 lead.  The Blasters came right back to tie the score 1-1 after 7 innings.We went into the tie-breaker with Lea Kronz on second, a sacrifice by Emily Freisleben moved her to 3rd.  Sarah Angeletti, who already had a homerun  brought back over the fence by a great catch by the left fielder, said "try and catch this one" and hit a bomb to left field to give Power a 3-1 lead.     The Blasters didn't quit, putting two runners on, but the defense shut the door and Power Kaminski had the championship.  Sarah Angeletti pitched all 8 innings and had 7 strikeouts.  Leah Kronz led the offense with three hits.  ON TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!
