Neese10U Wins Central Hempfield Spring Massacre

Neese 10U came from behind and snagged a late lead to defeat the Pittsburgh Lady Roadrunners 7-6 for the championship. This outdoor opener had six evenly matched teams in which Neese 10U showed real determination and grit by fighting from behind to win four of their five games by a single run.

The team?s defense was a highlight with both the infielders and outfielders racking up a number of plays worthy of a highlight real. Making clutch catches in the outfield on the weekend were Ella Eiler (2), Taylor Condiotte and Emma Neese.

The infield of Lexie Savatt (3B), Avelyn Kropf (SS), Gabby Bedel (2B) and Erin Fadgen (1B) stopped everything on the ground and was a nightmare for the competition. Erin had an error free day at first base with 26 total catches.

Leading the charge on the mound were Taylor Neese (11 innings / 23 strike outs), Siena Plummer (8 innings / 10 strike outs) and Gabby Bedel (5 innings / 6 strike outs). With the support of an solid defense behind her, Taylor held the 46 batters she faced to only 4 hits. Emma showed real endurance at Catcher logging 17 innings behind the plate and holding the base runners with a solid glove.

The offense was strong with doubles logged by Taylor C., Nicole Paschel, Siena Plummer (3) and Erin. Maggie Lapina had the team?s only triple and Taylor N. had a three-homer with a 190?+ shot over the CF fence. Avelyn had an amazing weekend at the plate with zero strike outs in 12 plate appearances.

Leading in stolen bases were Ella (6) Avelyn (5) and Maggie (7). Each of Siena?s 3 hits were doubles helping her to lead the team with 7 RBIs.

The team greatly missed our most aggressive base runner in Zoe Rychel who is on the IR for the next few weeks with a wrist fracture. Her leadership from the dougout this weekend was a real motivation for the team.

Congratulations on an outstanding tournament and best of luck on the rest of your season!
