Pittsburgh Power Pfab Stays HOT
Despite the recent cold snap in Western PA, Pittsburgh Power Pfab stayed hot as they reached the championship game for the second time in two tournaments. Playing in the 68 degree temperature controlled Thiel Dome, Pittsburgh Power Pfab won in the quarter finals and semi-finals before losing in the championship game to the Ohio Outlaws in a hard fought 7-5 game.
Reaching the championship game was especially impressive in light of the fact that Power Pfab was playing shorthanded because of injuries to Liv Goerdt and Alexandra Pfab. As such the girls had to play in secondary positions all day. However defense was anchored by catcher Victoria Grayson who caught all five games. Not only did she throw out runners stealing, picked off runners at first and third, and handle the pitchers, she only allowed 2 passed balls all day. Grayson was just as strong at the plate collecting several key hits and RBI. Grayson wasn?t the only Power Pfab play flashing the leather, the other girls made several splash plays as they turned several double plays and caught runners in run downs. Quality pitching from Krystnya Burdelski, Maddy Brown and Ari Reager kept the opponents? bats in check for most of the day.
Power Pfab will carry its winning ways into 2017 when they play in the NSA Thiel College Winterfest on January 7, 2017.
Happy Holidays from all the coaches and player of the Pittsburgh Power Pfab 16U team.
